Each of the 3 models has a different rhythm, different intensity, different responsibilities. An initial conversation (20 min, free of charge) determines which model fits your situation - sometimes the recommendation is "you don't need a partial technical director, a one-time audit is enough." The differentiator: we don't sell more scope than is realistically needed.

    DV differentiator - handing over to internal team as a success, not a failure. Goal: in 12-24 months the company has its own technical director or a strong team of architects, DV becomes an optional partner for selected decisions.

Total time from first interview to first strategic decision: 2-4 weeks. One-time audit is completed in 2-6 weeks. Continuous cooperation usually lasts 6-24 months, but possible resignation at any time (1 month notice period).

  • Architecture design of the new system (£15-40k): data model + interface specification + decision documentation + schedule + risks.

  • 30 days of post-audit support (questions, clarifications)

What NOT in the price:

  • Implementation of recommendations (separately: project 200 thousand zloty+ or partial technical director - Option 2).
  • Negotiations with existing supplier (separately: at an hourly rate of £600/hour)
  • Compliance audit (RODO, ISO, SOC 2 - requires certified auditors, recommended partners)

Partial technical director on a continuous basis

03|Variant - Price: 25 - 40 thousand zlotys/month - Duration: min. 6 months, usually 12-24 months

Full external technical director

Companies in transition (after departure of technical director, reconstruction, intensive growth), requiring a dedicated person

What you get:

  • Availability 50%+ of the time (3-4 days a week, ~80-100 h/month)
  • Full responsibility for architecture and technical team
  • Part of the management team, the right of decision
  • Attendance at strategy meetings + sprint planning
  • Recruitment + implementation of technical team
  • Plan to hand over to internal director in 12-24 months.
  • In addition: access to DV team (architects, developers, designers) for decision validation and design support

What NOT in the price:

  • Programming with direct participation (separately: £220/h)
  • Legal representation (= role of legal director/CFO)
  • Sales / marketing / operations (= other management roles)
  • Extension of time beyond 100 h/month. (Separately: hourly rate of 400-600 zł/h)

Final price ±15% after preliminary conversation. For Variant 1: price determined before launch (audit = fixed scope, fixed price). For Option 2/3: monthly price + hourly rates for selected out-of-scope tasks. Hourly rates: PLN 220/hour (programming, code review) / PLN 400/hour (architectural decisions, decision documentation) / PLN 600/hour (vendor negotiations, due diligence, board meetings). Mathematical consistency of pricing: all 3 variants match the weighted average rate of the technical director role ~£440-500/h (mix of strategic, architectural and operational decisions). Variant 3 is premium vs. full-time senior director (£30-50k/month gross + benefits + 3-6 months of recruitment) - £25-40k/month for 80% of full CTO, plus access to DV team. Distinction 4: consulting is a standalone paid service, not a sales excuse. We will not sell a development project if it is not realistically needed. 15-20% of conversations end with the recommendation "you don't need consulting" or "don't build a project, buy a ready-made one."

Why DV doesn't fit: Our scope is leadership + decisions + auditing for IT teams of 3-30 people. Corporations with 50+ engineers require consulting teams of 20-50 people, we have 5-10.

02|Profile

High compliance requirements (KNF bank, FDA medical, NATO)

Profile:

  • Industry requires formal certifications (ISO 27001 + SOC 2 + industry regulations)
  • Dedicated compliance and audit team

Recommended:

  • Consulting firms with dedicated regulated practice - Deloitte/PwC for banks, lists of approved suppliers under NDAs

Why DV doesn't fit: Building a compliance practice requires a 12-24 month investment in certifications, a dedicated audit department, liability insurance. It's a different business than a boutique studio.

FAQ

Questions we get before we start counseling

Part-time technical director works part-time (6-20 h/month in Option 2), not full-time. Benefits: no recruitment (start in 2 weeks), 70-90% cost savings (£3.5-9k/month vs. £30-50k gross full-time), no risk of leaving after a year.

Limitations: lack of daily presence (does not replace a full director in an intensive transition - then Option 3), lack of full legal responsibility (role of advisor, not board member).

Partial technical director (3.5-9 thousand PLN/month, 6-20 h/month) is enough when:

  • The company has its own technical team operating without the day-to-day presence of a director
  • Strategic decisions once/week or once/month
  • Junior director exists, partial outsider is a mentor

Full external technical director (£25-40k/month, 50%+ time) when:

  • Lack of own director and transformation requires daily presence
  • After the departure of the previous director, before recruiting a successor (12-24 month transition)
  • Intense growth - daily recruiting, architectural, partnering decisions

Written report (30-80 pages depending on scope) including:

The free initial interview (20 min) does not require an NDA - we talk about business context, not trade secrets. Most conversations are about"how your company works". i"what are the current technological challenges".

The NDA is signed before:

  • Audit (Option 1) - before the launch, the package usually includes confidentiality and RODO clauses
  • Partial/Full Technical Director (Option 2/3) - in the standard contract DPA + NDA + safety procedures

Digital Vantage works under NDA with many clients, for some under NDA is the entire relationship (examples of implementations cannot be public).

Yes - this is the typical scope of the audit Option 1 or partial technical director Option 2:

  • Selection phase: Requirements analysis, shortlist of systems, demonstrations, request for proposal, negotiations with suppliers, final decision with documentation
  • Implementation phase: Integration architecture design, implementation supervision (external contractor), acceptance test, documentation

DV does not perform ERP/CRM implementation by itself (we are not a partner of Comarch, Oracle, SAP). We act as an architect + supervisor. The implementation is performed by a specialized partner (we recommend specific contractors) or the client's internal team.

DV differentiator: handover to internal team as a success, not a failure. Three paths after consulting:

  • Recruit your own technical director - DV supports the recruitment process (candidates, technical interviews), implementation of the new director, handover of the project (1-3 months of overlap)
  • Junior director development - junior director is promoted to full, DV becomes external advisor (Option 2 basic 3.5 thousand PLN/month for selected decisions)
  • Continued partnership - DV remains as a partial/full director, but in a smaller capacity (basic instead of extended, at an hourly rate instead of on a continuous basis)

The goal: in 12-24 months, the company has a technology it doesn't need to fear. DV becomes an optional partner, not a dependency.
